Asia's Skylark, Jessica Villarubin Making Some Noise

Image
( Photo Source ) The Philippines, a country of very talented singers. First is Lea Salonga, the Disney legend who has a voice very much clearer than my future. The voice behind Disney movies like Mulan and Jasmine of Aladin. I already wrote here in this blog that I am a hard-of-hearing person (PWD) and I find it hard to understand every single word of a song, but when I hear Lea in her YouTube videos, I can understand most of what is coming out of her music. I hear every note and every technic very clear, though not as loud as what a normal person without a hearing problem can. Next is the Asia's Songbird, Regine Velasquez. The mother of all the young singers today. The singer who can hit A2 - B6. I grew up listening to her songs. Yes, I was able to hear ever since I was born until 2012 until measles hit me, so that explains it. Haha! There is also Asia's Nightingale, Lani Misalucha who can sing several genres of songs like pop, rock, soul, jazz, R&B, and opera arias. She...

Start Of My Stock Market Journey

Image
( Photo source ) When I was a child, we always go to UniWide. For me, that was the only supermarket at that time as it is the only place we buy our home supplies. After a few years, it was burned and was lost in the memories of the people in Cainta, Rizal, and nearby suburbs. As I get old, many supermarkets are coming out. I have not been to the S&R Supermarket yet even though there is one close branch from where I work in Shaw, Mandaluyong. I miss going to The Landmark Supermarket when I go to Trinoma Mall in Quezon City. I also miss Rustan’s in Gateway Mall when I pass Cubao, Quezon City going to my office in Mandaluyong as I only need to travel riding the Light Rail Transit 2(LRT2) and Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT3). Here are some of the popular supermarkets in the Metro: Super8 The Marketplace Metro Supermarket SM Hypermarket PureGold S&R Robinson’s Supermarket And now, the newest supermarket where you can buy your groceries is MerryMart. Well, I would never k...

What I Do During My Off From Work

Image
Hello readers! So it is my day off from work today and all I want to do is to become productive the best that I can. Working in a BPO industry will give you a shifting schedule and you would say goodbye to your daily routine as your shit always changes from time to time. As for me, my day-offs for this week will be today, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We were previously on a blocked schedule where all of our day-offs are on weekends, Saturday, and Sunday, but as we agreed during our application that we are amenable to work on a shifting schedule, here we are now and having weekdays off. That is still not bad, however. As long as we have worked so we can pay our bills and have food to eat on our tables coming from my salary.  Should I say goodbye to my work-life balance? Well, I would say not that much at all. I am still able to go to the gym, clean the house and do blogging. I am still thankful that I am now on the day shift schedule since my mom needs assistance almost all the ti...

My Thoughts About iPhone VS Android Phones

Image
( Photo source ) The first Android phone I used was MyPhone. The Filipino brand phone. It is not bad as it is using the latest operating system version at that time which was Marshmallow and it has Octa-core and 2 GB of RAM. This was my phone when I had no job, then next was Asus Zenfone M1 when I was earning money online through the social media that pays like Tsu, 3tags, WowApp, and now Lyka. I still have WowApp on my phone today as I was the pioneer user in the Philippines and my network is almost 9,000 so I am still earning from the users in my network. Most of us Filipinos are mid-range phone users including me. Never in my wildest dream have thought to have an iPhone or even one of the premium flagship phones today like the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. I am happy to have a Xiaomi phone or even Huawei with the lite version of its premium phones - but not anymore until it lost the Android operating system which is really heartbreaking to me as I like its camera so much. Though ...

The First Time I created Biko (Glutinous Rice Cake)

Image
Biko has always been one of the foods we serve every time we have a family occasion. I never realized how easy it is to make one until my mom taught me how to do this sweet treat today since it is the feast of  S anto Niñ o.  While I was working inside my room since there is a threat outside as it is pandemic, my mom already cooked the glutinous rice from the rice cooker. So all I have to do is to make the latik (coconut syrup)   and to mix the rice and the brown sugar. Easy as that! I am the house cook for now since my mom just got home from the hospital, so I will be posting here some dishes I make if I find them delicious. First is to put the coconut milk on the pan to create the coconut syrup, heat it until it becomes brown and you see it will become solid. I separated the oil from the coconut syrup, then mixed the glutinous rice to the brown muscovado sugar( unrefined cane  sugar  that contains natural molasses). The hard part in making this dessert ...

My MS Office alternative - Open Source

Image
We all know what MS Office is and of course, everyone knows you need to get the MS Office license to have it installed on your computer. I checked the price from this page  and heck, I don't have that money to spend for this application that I will not use that much. So I searched the internet and looked for MS Office alternatives and found this article  that lists down the best MS Office alternatives. I did not take my time to read it all but downloaded the number one on the list right away. When I was in college, there was a computer café near my university that is using a free and open-source word application. They may be saving the money for more necessary things like paying their rent and electricity bill than to use it for MS Office. I think that was a Linux-based application and it worked almost close to the functionality of the MS Word. I just don't remember the name of that application. If you know it, please write it down in the comments section to share with ...

How Cats Affect My Life

Image
I grew up playing with cats. I always have at least one female cat in our house so she can give me kittens. Lately, I read this article about what the color of your cat represent for you yo u. So I get excited every time my tamale cat gives birth.  My first ginger cat was born 4 years ago when I needed a job. His name is Henry, my mom gave the name to him as she said so it will be like we have the Henry Sy in our house. Haha! I did not realize a ginger cat can bring luck to me until I read the article above. That ginger cat brought a half Persian, half Siamese pure white female cat to our house when he was only 3 months old. I think they have the same size of the female cat, so I assumed they are both 3 months old. I gave Whiskas to the female cat too since she is cute haha. Then the female cate felt at home in our house, she stayed inside and never went outside anymore. It was my birth month, October when my female cat gave birth to two cute little male kittens. One pure white cat...

My Patron Saint

Image
Living my Catholic life ever since I was born, it never came to my mind that we should have our patron saint to achieve our goal. I honestly don't know most of the saints in the Catholic church. I only know some of them like: Saint Jude Saint Joseph Saint Claire Saint Padre Pio Saint Lucy (I knew her because I live close to Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall in Cainta, Rizal) Saint Francis of Assisi What is the role of a saint in our lives? We only need the Lord who is our God to save us in this life. Why do we need someone else? You see when there are several people helping each other to achieve the goal, they will achieve it perfectly. So I thought to myself why not seek help from a saint who was also once a human? Why not give it a try? My father once told me I should have a saint who I can always call and that I should have a novena to the saint. That was the time that I lost my job and feeling hopeless. All I do every day was to go to the Church of Saint Claire in Katipunan, Quezon ...

Hello readers! To be honest, I don't know how to start this blog and what kind of articles should I post here because I have plenty of things running in my mind. Well, I am not really that brainy kid who you think I am as you see from the title of this blog. Haha! This will just be the start of something big and  I am excited and feeling optimistic about the future of this blog.  Hmm... What could be the topics that we can talk about? Anything you want to know from me, you can write in the comments section, but here are some of the interesting topics in my mind that everyone will surely love: Science Health Business Technology Inspirational Stories Sports News Politics Paranormal Supernatural Pets Life Nature So I am not gonna be that geeky kid who will act like I know everything, but what I would do is to read from other articles and to make my own understanding and output to what I have read. Of course, I will include the link to the article here. I will also leave the...
