My Patron Saint
Living my Catholic life ever since I was born, it never came to my mind that we should have our patron saint to achieve our goal. I honestly don't know most of the saints in the Catholic church. I only know some of them like:
Saint Jude
Saint Joseph
Saint Claire
Saint Padre Pio
Saint Lucy (I knew her because I live close to Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall in Cainta, Rizal)
Saint Francis of Assisi
What is the role of a saint in our lives? We only need the Lord who is our God to save us in this life. Why do we need someone else? You see when there are several people helping each other to achieve the goal, they will achieve it perfectly. So I thought to myself why not seek help from a saint who was also once a human? Why not give it a try?
My father once told me I should have a saint who I can always call and that I should have a novena to the saint. That was the time that I lost my job and feeling hopeless. All I do every day was to go to the Church of Saint Claire in Katipunan, Quezon City every weekday and to the Church of Saint Padre Pio near Eastwood Libis, Quezon City every Saturday, to always pray to God and seek for his guidance for to me get a job. I go to Saint Claire and Padre Pio church to pray to get my hearing back since I lost it when I had measles. I learned from the writings of the people in the church who testified how they were healed with Padre Pio's intercession; There are nuns praying inside the church of Saint Claire so I always write my prayers to a piece of paper so they can pray for me.
So I reached the Church of Saint Joseph where a close BPO for non-voice is hiring. I was confident that I could pass the application. I went to the nearest Starbucks to buy my favorite coffee jelly while waiting for my interview. Sadly, I failed on the first interview. The recruitment agent who interviewed me did not pass me because he said I have communication problems since I am hard of hearing. Well, that's life and we do not get everything we wanted all the time. So I went straight to the Church of Saint Joseph to ask God which company I should apply to as I badly needed to get a job so I can achieve my goals in life. You could tell how strong and persistent I am despite of me being a hard-of-hearing person. Inside the Church of Saint Joseph, I prayed the Novena of Saint Jude. My father gave this to me because he was the saint I have chosen to be my patron saint.
On my last day of novena which is the 9th day of praying to Saint Jude, I saw a post on Facebook about this company that needs chat support agents. There, I passed the application and all the recruitment team was amazed on how I was able to understand them.
I am still working here as per writing this blog and I am still devoted to praying to the Lord with the intercession of Saint Jude.
How did I know Saint Jude? Well, there was this guy from Facebook who testified how his devotion to Saint Jude helped him when he needs to find a job. He is now a manager and still a devotee to Saint Jude.
Every one of us, Catholics should have a patron saint depending on what we wanted to achieve in life. As for me, I chose Saint Jude to surpass this stage of my life as he is the help of the hopeless.
